About Deborah
Hi, I’m Deborah, the home cook behind DKG Creations Kitchen.
My recipe collection brings together family favorites, recipes passed down from both of my grandmothers, and dishes I’ve discovered and made my own over the years.
I grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch country, and that heritage is part of my family’s story. We weren’t immersed in every aspect of Pennsylvania Dutch culture, but we respected our roots, kept some customs, and continued many of the cooking traditions passed down through our family.
Some recipes I share are traditional Pennsylvania Dutch dishes. Others are inspired by those traditions and adapted to suit our tastes and everyday lives. That’s why I named the category “PA Dutch Inspired.” Our potato filling is one example: we use packaged, preseasoned stuffing instead of plain or stale bread because we prefer the flavor, texture, and convenience.
My collection reaches beyond that heritage, too. You’ll find a little of everything here, from comforting dinners to desserts we look forward to sharing.
What I Share from My Kitchen
I started DKG Creations Kitchen to open my family recipe files and share the dishes I’ve enjoyed making for years. Some have stayed close to the versions handed down to me. Others have changed as I’ve found ingredients or methods that work better for our family.
Potato filling is an expected part of our holiday table. A big batch of hamburger BBQ is a favorite for parties, and ambrosia salad is a make-ahead dish I enjoy taking to picnics and family gatherings. These familiar recipes, and the memories that go with them, are at the heart of this site.
Along with printable recipe cards, I share ingredient preferences, preparation tips, and serving suggestions based on how I cook at home. When I have experience making a dish ahead or freezing it, I include those details to help you plan.
You’ll also find practical kitchen tips about choosing ingredients, preparing food, and making everyday cooking a little easier.
Life Outside the Kitchen
My husband and I have been married since 1999. We have two adult children and a grandchild, and family is an important part of my life both in and out of the kitchen.
Our Chinese Shar-Pei, Luna Nox, is a much-loved part of our family and everyday life. An introduction to me wouldn’t feel complete without including her, too.
